Hardcover with beveled boards, full brown cloth with gilt and black lettering, illustrations colored in pink, white, and blue to both covers and spine, top edge gilt, other edges untrimmed, clay-coated endpapers, 10-1/2" tall, 291 pp., colored illustrations by V.A. Poirson. Light wear to tips, spine ends turned in, faint water ring to rear cover, foxing to some pages, binding somewhat shaken. The illustrations are dated 1884-5, pencil gift inscription of 1886.
