Oblong, in turquoise boards, 6 x 9 1/4 inches, unnumbered pages, two color turquoise and orange illustrations alternate with black and white, pictorial endpapers, no additional printings noted, stamped price of $1.50 in front flap; boards rubbed at extremities, internally clean and sound; dust jacket rubbed with tattered edges, now in protective mylar cover. Chih-Yi Chan adapted this story of a paper horse brought to life by a magician, and it was illustrated by her son, Plato Chan, when he was twelve years old. The book was a Caldecott honor book of 1944.
