Red cloth boards with black titles, mild edge wear and corners turning in, penciled gift inscription in front end paper, pages lightly toned with age, binding sound, dust jacket rubbed and edge worn with some light soiling to rear, chipping at extremities, now in protective mylar cover. Includes the following stories: She Goes to War; A Girl on a Barge; The River Pageant; A Daughter of Today. In the title story, a young woman disguises herself as a man and follows her fiancé into the trenches during World War I to find out what war is really like. The book was adapted to a silent film in 1929 starring Eleanor Boardman and John Holland. Photoplay editions were the forerunners of movie tie-in editions in books. They were editions produced to accompany silent films and the early motion pictures of the sound era when movies were known as photoplays.
