This little book chronicles the history of theater in Ohio, beginning with the state's first theatrical venture in 1801, which was a rollicking musical comedy entitled, "The Poor Soldier." The author includes tales and examples of a variety of theatrical performances from opera to children's theater and everything in between, across the better part of a century and a half. Highlighted with photos of actors and stages throughout, and end papers showing the opera house in Butler, Ohio.
