Green cloth boards are a little smudged and edge worn with bumped corners and fraying at corners and spine ends. There is some mild bubbling to the cloth over the boards. Prev. owner's name and address in front end paper, and penciled gift inscription dated 1892 in first blank page. Heavy stock pages are clean and crisp with some toning from age. Hinges intact. Binding straight and sound. 86 numbered pages plus a couple of pages of ads for other books. This unassuming green cloth book is really special once you take a look at what's in these pages. There are 15 color lithographs sprinkled throughout the charming text of this story. Andrew Lang (1844 - 1912) was a Scots poet, novelist, literary critic, and contributor to the field of anthropology. He is best known as a collector of folk and fairy tales. The Andrew Lang lectures at the University of St Andrews are named after him.
