First edition stated, hardcover, 12 1/2 x 9 1/4 inches, unnumbered pages, black and white photographic illustrations on every page; pictorial boards backed in green cloth, mild wear at extremities, internally clean and sound, price-clipped dust jacket with tattered edges and some light scratches, a few edge tears, chipping at corners and spine ends, small chip out of bottom edge near corner, now in protective mylar cover. Have you met Dare Wright's angsty little doll Edith and her friend Little Bear? Dare Wright, who was a model and photographer, created a series of books for children known as the Lonely Doll Series. She illustrated all of the books with black & white photographs of her childhood doll and two stuffed teddy bears, in great detail. She started the series in the late 1950s, and went on to write and photograph eighteen more books over the next couple of decades. The photographs are spectacular, and the stories tend to be unusual. Many of the books are now out of print. Edith and the bears go on a beach holiday. There's plenty to do, and as usual Little Bear talks Edith into some mischief, which means she gets the what-for from Mr. Bear.
